Newsletter 2011

Hello to all our painters.

The end of our 2011 season of Art Toscana was marked by two weeks of painting in Sicily. It was our first art course away from Val di Pozza and a wonderful adventure.

Here are Christopher & Freda on the little beach below the town of Scopello domintated by the Tonnara and shaded by oleander and fig trees. It was the perfect setting for our painters. Our guests particularly enjoyed painting the warm colours of the ever changing light and the movement of the sea. One of the highlights of the holiday was a boat trip along the coastline of the Zingaro nature reserve where we stopped off at secluded coves to swim in crystal blue seas. There, surounded by shoals of tiny fish, we enjoyed huge juicy peaches and drank cold white wine. We can't wait to return next year! Oy hes, I forgot to mention the black kitten named Tara that befriended us on the beach. Surprisingly, she rather enjoyed the 16 hour train journey from Palermo back to Tuscany.

At home in Val di Pozza the summer gave us weeks of endless sunshine and a remarkable autumn of glorious reds and yellows. As usual, it was truly lovely to see returning guests and to meet new painters from all over the world.

In September Mavis, Sandra, Jean and Margaret were more than surprised to find themselves sitting next to the famous pop star, Paolo Nutini in the Osteria da Riccardo. They didn't realise he was one of the locals!

Our next venture is a classic painting and drawing course in Florence for 2013.

Best wishes and a Happy New Year,

Chris & Krysia.
